Description

In this webinar, we will review the Fair Labor Standards Act, who the coverage affects, and how to stay in compliance from general record-keeping to the tipped employees, yees, and pay for sick time and holidays. We will also review common violations and possible penalties associated. Two of the most common violations are misclassification of employees (exempt versus nonexempt) and improper calculation of overtime. Lawsuits under the FLSA, involving these types of mistakes, have been on the rise over the past few years.

Learning Objectives:-

  • Does the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) apply to my business?
  • What minimum wage and overtime requirements apply to my business for non-exempt (hourly) and exempt (salary) employees?
  • Can I deduct wages or otherwise charge my employees for uniforms, broken tools, or other business expenses?
  • Do I have to pay for sick, holiday, travel, and training time?
  • Common violations and penalties.

Why Should You Attend:-

Over 135 million workers, including youth workers who have their regulations, in more than 7 million workplaces are protected or covered by the FLSA which is enforced by the Wage and Hour Division of the U.S. Department of Labor. Additionally, there is a lot of confusion between state and federal law. Do not confuse an employee agreement with your legal ability to accidentally break the law.
