Biography:

Valerie Rock

Valerie serves as a Principal on the Firm’s Compliance Advisory Services team, specializing in physician coding, reimbursement, and regulatory compliance. With more than 15 years of experience in healthcare consulting, Valerie has assisted numerous clients with hospital-employed physician compliance and audit program development physician and laboratory compliance program advisory support, statistically valid sample-based refunds, physician and non-physician practitioner compliance, Medicare and Medicaid regulatory compliance and reimbursement methodologies, practice establishments, and practice operational consultations.

Valerie holds a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.  Also, she is Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC), and HCCA, and is certified through the American Academy of Professional Coders as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC).

Carine Leslie 

Carine brings over a decade of experience in coding and documentation compliance to the firm’s Compliance Advisory team. She is a subject matter expert in ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT-4, HCPCS, inpatient, hospital outpatient, physician Evaluation and Management (E/M) coding, and Clinical Documentation Improvement (CDI). Her inpatient experience ranges from inpatient acute medical and surgical to rehabilitation to behavioral health. Carine’s outpatient experience spans outpatient surgical, ancillary services, drug administration, emergency department, observation, behavioral health services, and Evaluation and Management services.

Carine holds a Bachelor of Science in Health Information Management from Temple University. She is a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) and Certified Coding Specialist (CCS).

Carine is a member of the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), and the Georgia Health Information Management Association (GHIMA). Additionally, she is a volunteer with Habitat for Humanity and Nicholas House.

Katie Croswell

Katie has a decade of experience building and managing client healthcare compliance programs based on OIG and CMS guidelines. She has extensive experience conducting compliance risk assessments and building and managing coding auditing programs for various healthcare organizations. Proficient in healthcare rules and regulations, Katie educates and advises clients on multifaceted regulations to assist with both client preparedness and compliance with government standards.

Katie holds a Bachelor of Science in Health Information Management from Illinois State University and a Master of Business Administration, and Health Administration Certificate from St. Xavier University. She is a Registered Health Information Administrator, is Certified in Healthcare Compliance, and is a Certified Coding Specialist – Physician. Katie is a member of the Health Care Compliance Association (HCCA) and the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).

Miriam B. Murray

Miriam holds more than 25 years of healthcare compliance and healthcare privacy compliance experience and is certified in both fields. Her expertise lies in assisting physician practices, hospital systems, assisted living/skilled nursing/long-term care, outpatient rehabilitation, and third-party billing service organizations with the development and implementation of programs and processes focused on healthcare compliance and privacy.

Miriam earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Austin Peay State University. She is a member of the Health Care Compliance Association, Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, American Health Information Management Association, and Medical Group Management Association.
